What is Sculptra®?

Preparation
Before the first treatment, you will have a personal consultation with Dr. Christian Graß in our practice in Leipzig. Your wishes and expectations will be discussed and your skin condition will be carefully analyzed. Based on this information, Dr. Graß will create a customized treatment plan. Special preparation is generally not necessary—you should simply avoid blood-thinning medications if medically appropriate.
The treatment
The Sculptra® treatment lasts approximately 30 to 45 minutes. After thoroughly disinfecting the skin, the product is injected into targeted areas using a fine needle or blunt cannula. Before injection, the product is mixed with a local anesthetic to make the treatment as comfortable as possible. Dr. Graß applies the active ingredient precisely where targeted volume enhancement or skin tightening is desired. A short massage follows immediately to promote even distribution of the product.
Aftercare
After treatment, you can return to social activities immediately. However, during the first few days, you should regularly massage the treated area yourself – approximately five minutes, five times a day for five days. You should avoid exercise, saunas, and strong sun exposure for about 2–3 days. Slight redness, swelling, or minor bruising are possible, but usually subside quickly. The results become apparent gradually – for optimal results, several sessions spaced a few weeks apart are usually required.
Risks and tolerability
Sculptra® is very well tolerated and has been established in aesthetic medicine for years. As with any injection, slight redness, swelling, or minor bruising may occur, but these quickly subside. In very rare cases, nodules may form, which can usually be avoided with proper massage.
