Hyperhidrosis treatment with Botox – Effective against excessive sweating

For many people, excessive sweating is more than just a cosmetic problem. Those who constantly struggle with wet armpits, damp palms, or sweaty clothes often feel severely restricted in their daily lives. Self-confidence often suffers as a result – especially in social or professional situations. The cause is often hyperhidrosis, in which the sweat glands are overactive regardless of temperature or physical activity.

This condition can be significantly improved with targeted treatment of the sweat glands. A particularly effective method is the injection of botulinum toxin – better known as Botox. The procedure is minimally invasive, well-tolerated, and often offers those affected a significant relief in their daily lives.

Who is Botox hyperhidrosis treatment suitable for?

Botox treatment can be used on anyone suffering from excessive sweating—be it underarms, hands, feet, or face. This method is particularly suitable when other conservative therapies such as antiperspirants or medications are ineffective or associated with unpleasant side effects.

Excessive sweating can also be a significant psychological burden. In such cases, treatment with botulinum toxin can significantly improve well-being and sustainably improve quality of life.

How does hyperhidrosis treatment with Botox work?

Preparation

Before the actual treatment begins, we will conduct a detailed consultation with you. Together, we will determine whether you have hyperhidrosis that requires treatment and whether Botox is the appropriate treatment option.

Generally, no special preparation is necessary. If you are taking blood-thinning medication, please discuss this with us in advance. Skin irritations in the area to be treated should also be clarified in advance.

The treatment

Botox treatment is performed on an outpatient basis and usually takes no longer than 30 minutes. First, the skin is thoroughly cleansed and disinfected. If desired, an anesthetic cream can be applied to make the injections even more comfortable.

The treating specialist then injects the botulinum toxin with very fine needles directly into the skin areas with excessive sweating. There, the drug specifically blocks the nerve impulses responsible for activating the sweat glands.

The treatment is generally well tolerated and almost painless.

After treatment

After the injection, slight redness, swelling, or bruising may occur for a short time. These are harmless and will subside on their own within a few days.

You can return to social activities immediately after treatment. However, you should avoid sports, saunas, or tanning beds for a few days. Strong mechanical stimuli—such as tight clothing—should also be avoided in the treated area.

The effects of Botox begin after a few days. Maximum sweat reduction is usually seen after about 1 to 2 weeks. The effect lasts approximately 4 to 9 months and can be refreshed at any time if needed.

What are the benefits of the treatment?

Hyperhidrosis treatment with Botox has proven itself in practice many times and offers numerous advantages:

  • Effective and safe method without surgery

  • Significantly reduced sweating in the treated areas

  • Noticeable relief in everyday life and increased well-being

  • No downtime – immediately ready for use again

  • Repeatable and well tolerated

If you suffer from excessive sweating and are looking for a permanent solution, we would be happy to advise you personally. Our experienced specialists will address your individual situation and work with you to find the best path to a better quality of life.

Are there any risks associated with Botox treatment?

Treatment of hyperhidrosis with botulinum toxin is considered very safe when performed by an experienced specialist. Serious side effects are extremely rare. In our practice, we use only tested brand-name preparations and place great emphasis on precise, individually tailored dosage.

Botox only works locally at the injected sites and is completely broken down by the body over time. There is no permanent change. If you decide against further treatment, sweat production will gradually return to its original level.
